Basses
Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5HH
Danny customized his primary ‘go-to’ bass guitar with an cherry blossom and lotus flower-themed Alperious pickguard as well as cherry blossom inlays on the neck and body. He even named this bass “Sakura”, which is Japanese for ‘cherry blossom’.
Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5HH Special
Danny customized his backup bass with a star-themed Alperious pickguard and abalone star fretboard markers. Danny named this bass “Bootsy” in honor of the influential talent and style of Bootsy Collins.
Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5H Fretless
Danny’s fretless bass is named “Maullar” (Spanish for ‘meow’) because of the mewl and growl that fretless basses are known for. This bass was originally a fretted model, but converted to fretless for Danny by the expert guitar techs at 13th Street Guitars in Huntington Beach, CA. Danny also enhanced this bass with a custom rosewood and steel Alperious pickguard.
Fender American Professional II Precision 5
This bass provides that instantly identifiable P-bass sound that adorns so many iconic recordings. Danny named this American Fender Precision 5 bass “Ehukai”, which is Hawaiian for ‘sea spray’ because he customized it with an ocean wave theme, including an Alperious pickguard and blue abalone fretboard markers.
Schecter Ultra Bass 5
“Xenomorph” is Danny’s primary bass when he’s performing with We’re No Gentlemen. Named for it’s sleek and stealthy appearance, this bass provides the big tone necessary to hold down the bottom in WNG’s heavy emo sound.
Schecter CV-5
When performing dance music and funk bass lines, Danny tends to lean on “Star Child”, his Schecter CV-5 for it’s versatility. This bass is loaded with flat-wound strings, so Danny uses it beefy, retro bass tones.
NS Design NXT Upright 5-string bass
For performances that require the traditional tone and feel of an upright bass, Danny uses his trusty NXT,double bass nicknamed “Beast” for its monstrous tone. Whether bowing or plucking, this upright electric bass imbues incredible fullness and clarity.
Cort Artisan Space 5
For fly-in shows, Danny uses his headless Cort Space 5, which he outfitted with U.S.-made Bartolini MK-5 pickups. This travel-friendly bass fits perfectly in overhead plane baggage compartments but still provides a monstrous sound.
Sandberg California II Enigma
Danny has his Sandberg VM5 Chris Childs Signature bass with distinct cream racing stripes specifically set up for down-tuned songs.
