Bass rig consulting and tone setup with Danny Knapp

Danny Knapp offers professional bass rig consulting. He provides hands-on help dialing in tone, sorting out signal routing, and figuring out what gear will actually solve the problem you’re having. This isn’t ongoing beginner lessons — it’s focused, one-off sessions built from years of real studio sessions, national touring, and tribute productions. Whether the issue is a muddy low end, a noisy signal chain, or just too many options and not enough clarity, sessions get you to a working solution fast.

“Thanks again for guiding me through the Kemper software updates and new rig downloads… You know I’ll continue to need your assistance as I maneuver through the wormhole of modeling technology… Always a pleasure working with you!”

— Mike Butcher, Guitarist

Who It’s For

Players trying to nail down their tone, troubleshoot a signal chain issue, or figure out what gear to buy next. This also includes those preparing for auditions, touring opportunities, tribute productions, studio recording work, or professional-level live performance situations.

Bass Rig Consulting: What’s Included

Amp and Kemper Profiler configuration, tone shaping, signal routing and troubleshooting, gear selection advice, and click-track/IEM integration. Sessions can also cover live performance preparation and audition readiness for players who need it. All of it builds toward reliable, stage-ready rigs from an officially endorsed bass artist.

Common topics include:

  • Impedance matching between instrument and preamp
  • Structuring an effective effects loop
  • Setting up in-ear monitor mixes for live shows
  • Choosing between modeling platforms and traditional amp-and-cab setups

Why Rig Consulting

A lot of tone problems aren’t really tone problems. They’re signal chain issues, gear mismatches, or simply too many settings without a clear starting point. Sessions work directly with your actual setup, whether over video call or in person. The goal is a configuration that holds up on stage and in the studio alike.

Format

60–90 minute sessions, in person in Southern California or via video call.

Rates

Available on request. Danny keeps sessions limited, scheduling them around his touring and studio commitments.
