It was so great to spend a full day teaching surf lessons yesterday. I’ll have to admit that I’m a bit sore today, as it’s been a few months since I last did back-to-back lessons all day (plus I snuck in 90 minutes of surf time for myself). I’m so happy to be back in the water sharing the stoke with all the other great coaches at @onewavesurf. 😎🤙

The guitarist and I do the “left-shark, right-shark” thing when we play California Gurls — suffice it to say, it’s actually pretty difficult to play and sing while wearing a furry shark head, but the audience loves it. 🤪

Plotting and planning with our producer “E” during the last @WereNoGentlemen recording session. For every minute we spend recording or playing live, we’ve spent hours in preparation, planning, and rehearsal.
It’s crazy to think of how many stories and fond memories you can recall just from the stickers, dents, and scratches you find on your travel cases.
It’s crazy to think of how many stories and fond memories you can recall just from the stickers, dents, and scratches you find on your travel cases.
If only these bass guitar cases could talk! I originally just started with my name and a few stickers on each case so that I could recognize my gear when it’s dark backstage and at the airport, and so that crew and other musicians don’t accidentally pack the wrong gear in their trucks (no one can mistake my ugly cases).
Over time, the stickers get ripped off due to use and abuse, so I just add more stickers over the top of the old ones. Besides, it gives me somewhere to put all those cool decals you get when traveling and when you buy new gear.
I’m looking forward to later this year when we can all get back out there and do some road gigs and fly-in gigs so I can collect some more stickers. 😉

Looking forward to getting started on another original project with these guys (@poli_rhythms & @sfrguitar). I’ve been working with them in various bands for quite a while, but it never gets old. Whether on the stage or in the studio, I’m a better musician when I’m trying to keep up with them, and we always have a few laughs along the way.
