Originally from Hawaii, the members of Mikioi brought their own brand of Jawaiian-style reggae together with the elements of Hawaiian music and roots reggae, as well as the influence of mainland pop and R&B. With the release of their debut full-length album ‘Homesick’ in 2007, Mikioi demonstrated their extensive musical prowess to pay tribute to the majesty and grace of their native islands with traditional Hawaiian favorites like “Alekoki” as well as bringing sublime vibes with their reggae originals such as “Jah Say”. Mikioi’s first two singles, “Hawaii, My Home” and “Mikioi Music” are still played on the airwaves in Hawaii and their version of “Kanaka Wai Wai” is regularly used in hula performances throughout the islands and the mainland.
