Three of my basses have a one-of-a-kind custom pickguard made by Alper from @alperiouspickguard. I couldn’t be happier with how they have turned out. These pickguards help to transform each bass into a unique work of art. Alper is currently crafting a pickguard for my brand new @fender Precision 5-string bass. I look forward to posting the unboxing when it arrives. I can’t wait to show it off!

The bracelet I’m wearing is made from repurposed, used bass guitar strings. Much thanks to my long-time friend and former work co-hort David Kohler for such a thoughtful gift from @retunedjewelry.

Because of the various alloys used to make guitar/bass strings, they are extremely difficult to recycle. Over 700 tons of strings end up in the dump every year. Retuned Jewelry works with music shops and musicians to collect used strings that would have otherwise been thrown away and instead make a variety of jewelry that are works of art in their own right.

My buddy David is an amazing artist as well. Check out the beautiful exotic wooden bowls and vessels he spins at https://dgkdesign.com (hit the link in my bio).

Thanks for the killer gift, David! I miss giving you all my money in our weekly poker games. 🤘😎

Truth!

Truth!

This chart was inspired by a post I saw on @bassmagazineonline, but I adjusted it to include the results from my own experience. I have developed a love/hate relationship with the “I Love You, Man” movie.

I get asked quite often about my customized bass guitars.

I get asked quite often about my customized bass guitars. Several of basses have custom pickguards made by Alper Eskimez of @alperiouspickguard. His work is absolutely amazing. These pickguards are made out of wood and metal, so they actually improve tone and sustain a little bit. Every pickguard Alper makes is built-to-order and one-of-a-kind. In the photo on the left, you can see the detail of the wood grain in the pickguard on one of my @ernieballmusicman basses (this one is named “Elvis”).

Taysti – lyric video for “Thank You For The Memories”

The pop duo Taysti just recently released the lyric video for their first single that features Danny Knapp on bass, “Thank You For The Memories”. You can watch the full-length lyric video at https://youtu.be/IcDreQcjXog

For the recording session, Danny used his Kemper Profiler with an Aguilar Tone Hammer & Aguilar 8×10 profile along with his trusty Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5HH loaded with Jim Dunlop flatwound strings.

It’s crazy to think of how many stories and fond memories you can recall just from the stickers, dents, and scratches you find on your travel cases.

If only these bass guitar cases could talk! I originally just started with my name and a few stickers on each case so that I could recognize my gear when it’s dark backstage and at the airport, and so that crew and other musicians don’t accidentally pack the wrong gear in their trucks (no one can mistake my ugly cases).
Over time, the stickers get ripped off due to use and abuse, so I just add more stickers over the top of the old ones. Besides, it gives me somewhere to put all those cool decals you get when traveling and when you buy new gear.

I’m looking forward to later this year when we can all get back out there and do some road gigs and fly-in gigs so I can collect some more stickers. 😉
